Needle Play

The biggest risk was my emotional reaction, but I remained cool at all times. With all the usual precautions in place (gloves, disinfecting the area to be pricked and carefully removing the needle from its plastic container), I pinched a little skin and inserted the needle with the bevel up, as instructed in the articles I had read about needle play. The needle went in with almost no friction, only at the end when the tip penetrated the skin tissue to come to the surface. At this point I had to apply a little more pressure, but it came to the surface without any pain, just the normal sensation I expected. I held the needle in for a few minutes, as I had planned, just long enough to enjoy the sight and take a few pictures. When I pulled the needle out I accidentally pricked myself as I had inserted it at a slight angle towards my leg and this tiny drop was the only blood I shed. Disinfection again after removing the needle. Removing the needle is the only part of the procedure that causes a slight sensation, although I did not identify it as pain, just a slight and delicious discomfort.
