Gallery 3: Slave Francine Evans (Captioned)

Mrs. Francine Evans, a former teacher and housewife, is regressing daily into the role and persona of a slave. Self-conscious of her dress, appearance and her body, particularly her attractive breasts, she becomes more careless of her appearance as her formerly elegant skirt and silk blouse are in tatters. Buttons have gone from her blouse and she is embarrassed to have her breasts ogled by mine staff and her fellow workers. More and more, whip and club marks appear on her breasts, back, arms and legs and, she hears, she will be branded. If she does not, or cannot, work she is not fed; so she throws her mind, body and soul into the physically draining work of picking and shovelling coal, in the worst of conditions. But she meets some amazing women on her journey to slavery. Her plans of escape are diminishing daily but she works on and on, to survive.
